Estoi Palace International Rotary Club held its fourth Annual Charity Golf Day at Monte Rei Golf and Country Club on August 28. Sixty-six players played an individual 18 hole Stableford. During the round, players were able to participate in the ‘beat the pro’ competition on the ninth and six players were delighted to achieve this feat. Competition winners were Brendan Kelly and Zoe Pirrett.
Around €6,000 were raised on the day, which will be used to help the underprivileged in the local community, including the Estoi Lar Community Centre, ReFood and the Faro Food Bank.
After play, a welcome drink supplied by sponsor ‘About Wine’ was followed by lunch overlooking the golf course. Golfers were then able to enjoy the ‘Rory McIlroy’ washing machine challenge on the lawns. The winner was Brendan Kelly with a score of 15 points.
Prizes were provided by ‘About Wine’, a boutique wine shop in Faro. There was a silent auction with prizes including a week at Vale do Lobo, a fine dining voucher, football memorabilia and a signed 18th hole flag by Tom Watson from his final open Championship appearance.
