More than €5,000 was raised for the Canil São Francisco kennels in Loulé during a charity event organised by Julia Hammond.
The event, held at Barringtons in Vale do Lobo, included a barbeque, dancing, karaoke, a raffle and a charity auction.
A spokesman for the fundraiser said: “This is an annual fundraiser and this year we managed to raise €1,000 more than last year while Lilo Clauberg-Kranendonk from the kennels was over-joyed at the tremendous generosity of all who attended.
Many different local businesses donated items for the raffle including Julias Restaurant, Izzys Restaurant and Breeze Restaurant.
There were also beauty vouchers from Natural Beauty, Nadines Hair Salon, Mind Body and Soul and Ultimate Look.
“During the evening, there was a fantastic auction with Mike Hinch auctioning off great items including Britney Spears, Dolly Parton and Bryan Adams ticket, a signed Nottingham Forest football shirt and a meal at Golf Resort Monte Rei,” added
the spokesman.
The organisers would like to thank everyone who took part in the event and all the businesses who supported it this year.
