Charity funding

Loulé Câmara will be donating 15,000 euros to a local animal charity, the Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados de Loulé, in support of the charities ongoing work with abandoned animals.

The association, which was founded in 1981, concentrates its efforts into the collection of abandoned animals, predominantly cats and dogs, providing them with food, shelter and veterinary care if required.

Between 2006 and 2008, the charity dealt with an average of 478 dogs and 165 cats in the Loulé area per year. This year, the total number of dogs is expected to be 509 with 184 cats.
