Praia da Luz is to be the setting for the first Fashion Show and Spring Fair on May 2 at the Vila Luz aparthotel on the outskirts of Praia da Luz.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Madrugada, a charity the helps people with life limiting illnesses.
Several fashion shows are due to take place throughout the day, showcasing designs from fashion houses and boutiques across the Algarve, from Lagos to Quinta da Lago.
The show will also include a presentation by women from the Madrugada charity shop, who will be modelling designer clothes that have been donated to the shop.
Event organiser Liz Ryan said: “When I found out that there is no trained professional hospice care home for people with life limiting illnesses in the Algarve and no purpose built hospice centre outside Lisbon, I was shocked.”
She added: “I am very excited about our upcoming gala fashion show and spring fair so we can raise badly needed funds for our charity.”
As well as the fashion shows throughout the day, there will also be an Argentinean tango display, a charity raffle and a variety of stands displaying everything from poolside furniture to natural body products.
Entrance to the Fashion Show and Spring Fair, which is due to run from 11am until 5pm, costs 10 euros per person and includes a glass of sparkling wine from Quinta das Bageiras.
