Charity events help animals

THE WELFARE of Algarve’s abandoned animals is the focus of the two following events:

• On Sunday, March 26, from 12.30pm, a Pig Roast Country Fair is being held at Casa O Palmeiral in Montes de Cima (15 minutes from Penina), in aid of the Association for Protection of Animals in the Algarve (APAA). Eat as much roast pork (plus salad and bread) as you can for 12.50 euros. There will be plenty of entertainment with music and stalls selling jewellery, clothes, plants, preserves, bric-a-brac, pictures and sculptures. Anyone wishing to have a stall at the fair (five euros for a small stall and 10 euros for a large stall), should call Jenny Tucker on 282 471 851 or 919 041 903. For directions, call 282 471 145 or 967 302 203.

• On Saturday, April 1, from 7.30pm, a luxury buffet dinner, plus great music for dancing, is planned at Hotel Paraíso in Albufeira. All proceeds from the evening will go towards local animal charities, Quintinha dos Animais (Goldra) and Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve. For tickets, at 25 euros per person (all inclusive), call 289 514 218 or 962 414 584.
