ONE OF the major annual charity events in the Algarve, the VIII Charity Golf Tournament, was held recently at the Victoria golf course in Vilamoura, followed by a gala dinner and show at the Casino de Vilamoura. The money raised – an all time record of 58,000 euros at the time of going to press – will go to Existir in Loulé, an association for the assistance and rehabilitation of disabled and underprivileged people. Over 180 golfers competed in a Stableford Pairs Better Ball tournament and around 360 people attended the gala dinner. Some of the event’s main sponsors included Lusotur Golfes, Atelier do Sul – Design Consultants, Solverde, Vodafone, The Sovereign Group and Newlyn Developments. The Guest of Honour for the gala dinner was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Portugal, Mr. John Buck. See full report of the event in next week’s edition of The Resident.
