A charity dinner in aid of Helping Hands in the Algarve (HHA) will take place on Saturday (September 16) at La Piazza in Santa Bárbara de Nexe.
The special evening consists of a full three-course menu that includes wine and water. Singer Katie Jackson, who is flying in from England for this special event, will provided entertainment, which will also include an auction of rock and sports memorabilia.
HHA are a charitable group, started in 1985, committed to raising money to help disadvantaged children and young people. They raise money with a monthly quiz in São Brás de Alportel and by collecting copper coins and loose change. They currently are raising money for four or five new or reconditioned bikes for the children’s home in Loulé. They also help with equipment at APPC in Faro, a training school for children and young people with cerebral palsy. In conjunction with Pine Trees horse riding stables in Almancil and APPC, they assist with some of the costs of riding lessons and mobility training for the young children suffering with cerebral palsy. They work closely with the local council in São Brás which researches the real needs and HHA try to assist with the costs of spectacles and also dental adjustment work for disadvantaged children and families
