‘Christmas Concert for Charity’ will be held in the church of Ferragudo on December 15 at 5pm to coincide with the ARTENATA fair which takes place in the village that weekend.
The concert is being organised by the Lagoa cultural association Ideias do Levante, in partnership with the municipality, and aims to collect food items for needy people registered with local independent charitable group ‘Mão Amiga’ (Friendly Hand).
The choir was founded in 1996 and quickly became one of the highlights of Ideias do Levante. The choir has performed with several illustrious artists and groups and has been directed since November 2003 by artistic director Prof Francisco Brazão.
The concert is free to attend but donations for Mão Amiga will be gratefully received.
Meanwhile, the ARTENATA event, now in its 9th year, takes place at the Rainha D. Leonor square and adjacent areas, bringing together dozens of exhibitors, including artists and artisans, as well as street entertainers and several food stalls.
Artenata opens at 10am on both days and closes at 9pm on Saturday and at 8pm on Sunday.
