A calendar in aid of rescue dogs is now available with all proceeds from the sale going directly to the Goldra animal shelter, Quintinha dos Animais Abandonados.
The 2010 Rescue Dog Calendar, depicting local residents with their rescue dogs, was started three years ago by Algarve residents Ingrid Moody, Suzanne Peebles and photographer Sally Mulholland.
“We have learned a lot since the first publication,” said Suzanne Peebles. “We now have all the people photographed in the calendar donate towards the cost of printing and every page has a sponsor, which means that the print costs are taken care of and every cent from the sale of the calendars goes directly to helping improve life at the shelter and paying towards medical costs.”
The calendars cost 10 euros and are available at various outlets including Griffin Bookshop, Guys & Dolls Fashion and Clínica Veterinária in Almancil, Dunas and Camelias in Quinta Shopping and Guia Vets.
“Last year, more than 1,100 copies of the calendar were sold, with the money raised being spent on building extra shelter areas for the dogs and cats for the coming winter, as well providing relief from the ongoing veterinary costs of medicines, vaccines, spaying and neutering of the animals,” said Suzanne Peebles.
