Organisers of the fourth charity Loulabell Ball celebrated a record number of attendees at the event to raise money for the UK-based charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in memory of Leanne Faulkner.
More than 135 guests attended the ball held at Parque da Floresta in the O Parque Restaurant, with those attending enjoying a three-course meal, live music and a charity raffle and auction with prizes donated by local residents and businesses.
Some of the lots on offer at the auction included a dress donated by UK singer Pixie Lott, a three-night luxury holiday at the Vigia Resort for four people
and an original Jack Vettriano print.
At midnight, the guests gathered outside to release helium balloons and birthday balloons to remember Leanne and to mark what would have been her 21st birthday.
In 2006, 15-year old Leanne Faulkner died in hospital in Lisbon after suffering a cardiac arrest and since then her family have set up the Leanne Faulkner Memorial Trust to raise awareness
about CRY. Organisers will now donate €2,500 to the CRY charity raised during the Loulabell Ball.
