Changes to public opening hours are being implemented at the British Consulates in Lisbon and Portimão.
Consular assistance will continue to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling on 808 20 35 37 or +351 21 395 4082.
From June 23 2014, public opening hours for appointments and personal callers, in both Lisbon and Portimão, will be 9.30am to 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (currently Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2pm).
A statement from the British Embassy read: “This change is in line with FCO’s consular strategy for 2013-16, in which we focus on doing more to help our most vulnerable customers. Our consular officers worldwide now offer a more tailored service, based on a customer’s individual circumstances and local conditions. We are working with partners to provide customers with more specialised services, streamlining and simplifying our documentary and notarial services, working with the Portuguese Government to reduce bureaucracy and focusing on delivering services digitally.”
