Director || Nicola Pecini has taken on the role of Director of Football at Olhanense following the resignation of Igor Campedelli who will continue to be the representative of the Italian majority shareholder on the SAD (limited liability company).

34 year-old Nicola Pecini holds a FIFA licence and is relishing his new position. Pecini said: “I am committed to improving the current situation and my ambition is to create a strong Olhanense and make the club a top team again. I cannot do this alone and I am counting on the collaboration of everyone who loves the club.”

It should be noted that the shareholder structure remains unchanged, with Igor Campedelli and his partners holding 80%, while the club has 20%.

The new man will have his hands full, endeavouring to reverse the decline of a team that was tipped for a prompt return to the Primeira Liga at the start of the season.

Olhanense started the New Year with a 1-0 defeat away to surprise outfit Tondela – this result taking the team from northern Portugal to the top of the table for the first time in their history.

The home side started brightly and took the lead after half-an-hour when Fabio Pacheco headed home Pedro Araujo’s corner. Minutes later and Olhanense were down to ten men when captain Semedo picked up a second yellow card.

A further blow ensued five minutes later when Nuno Diogo limped off to be replaced by Vítor Bastos. Despite being a man down, the visitors took the game to Tondela, but a lack of fire power upfront – only two goals in their last five games – was again responsible for returning home empty handed.

In the closing minutes, a strong call for a penalty – Fábio Pacheco appeared to handle in the area – was turned down by referee Manuel Mota.
