Champions sign Olhanense keeper

Olhanense’s highly rated Brazilian goalkeeper Fabiano Feiras, 24, has been signed by League Champions FC Porto, on a four year deal, for €1.2m.

The Olhão club, who owned 40% of the transfer rights, will receive €480,000. Further good news for Olhanense fans is that Fabiano will be loaned back to the Algarve club for the coming season.

Fabiano, at 1.97m the tallest player in the Premier Liga, played in all 30 league games last season and had two outstanding games against Porto. He denied Hulk, who could be Chelsea bound, on numerous occasions including a superb penalty save at the Jose Arcanjo Stadium when Olhanense held the League Champions to a 0-0 draw.

There is also a strong possibility that Porto will loan the Algarve team two other players. Kelvin, a 19 year-old attacking midfielder; Christian Atsu Twasam, a 20 year-old Ghanaian winger and centre-back Andre Pinto, who made 25 appearances for Olhanense last season, are all in the frame. The Fabiano signing could spell the end for promising keeper Hugo Ventura at Porto. After two successful seasons out on loan at Olhanense and Portimonense, many Porto fans had been pushing for the return of the Portuguese goalkeeper who was considered one of the best players during his time at both clubs. This past season, Ventura was once again loaned to Olhanense but due to the impressive form of Fabiano Freitas he failed to make an appearance. There is the mouth-watering prospect of two top pre-season friendlies as Premier League new boys Reading will be visiting Olhanense at the end of July whilst Sheffield Wednesday will also be in town.
