THE PORTUGUESE Chamber held another successful golf day recently at the newly opened Victoria Clube de Golfe in Vilamoura. More than 30 golfers came together for the tournament at the Championship Course on a perfect, sunny Algarve day.

Following the golf tournament, 80 members and guests attended a drinks reception and dinner at the nearby Millennium Golf Course Clubhouse. During the dinner, Peter Lovell, the Chamber Algarve director, expressed his thanks to hosts Lusotur Golfes for sponsoring the golf tournament. He also thanked Atelier do Sul, Newlyn Developments Portugal, Bragança Bruno & Associados, Neville de Rougemont e Associados, Reserva da Luz and SACL for their generosity in sponsoring the reception and dinner.

The prizes, kindly donated by CIN, were then presented by John Newgas, the Chamber’s chief executive. Prizes awarded were as follows:

First prize “The CIN Trophy”: Christopher Ball – 38 points

Second prize: John Hughes – 38 points

Third prize: Phillip Pope – 37 points.

First Lady: Danit Birn Ron – 31 points

Longest drive: Danit Birn Ron

Nearest the pin: Robin Anderson

Mystery prize: Klaus Schoon

This was the first event in the Algarve for John Newgas, who told those present of the importance of the Portuguese Chamber as a major force in encouraging business between Portugal and the UK. He went on to say that he believed the Chamber should be representative of the needs and wishes of its members, and that they were its great strength. John explained that he is based in London, but expects to visit Portugal regularly.
