Where and when does a barbecue stops being a barbecue and becomes a gourmet lunch? Members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs from the Algarve, Lisbon and Estoril discovered that it could happen at the five-star resort of Monte Rei, well known for its world-class golf courses and its Michelin star executive Chef Rui Silvestre.
On a very hot day, on the terrace by the pool, members enjoyed a “perfect summer lunch” with a selection of salads, grilled fish and assorted meats, “cooked to perfection” and served at the table by an attentive staff, whilst the sommelier refreshed guests with a “pleasant” sparkling wine and a “very enjoyable” Fernão Pires white wine from Serradayres, which was “just perfect with the delicious meal”.
Some members of the Chaîne stayed the night in one of the beautifully-appointed villas of the resort, and were brave enough, after a siesta and a dip in the pool, to enjoy a gastronomic dinner at Rui Silvestre’s restaurant Vistas, which fully deserves its Michelin star.
Another memorable event for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs!
