Chaîne charity project

Members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs from both the Algarve and the Alentejo came together to launch a new charity project to support young people looking to enter the food and wine industry.

The new Chaîne des Rôtisseurs project aims to provide funding to support educational courses for 15 young people from disadvantaged families in the Évora region aged between 12 and 16 years old. In this respect they hope to create a Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Gastronomy School for students to be able to learn specific basic skills in the preparation of food and the making of wine.

The initiative is being supported by the internationally based Châine Foundation and the Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Degustateurs.

More than 40 members and friends gathered at the Herdade de Grous to launch the project and to then enjoy a lunch which included ceviche of scallops, avocado mousse and tuna in a sesame crust all accompanied with wine from the Herdade dos Grous.

The lunch was prepared by Chef Ricardo Moutinho and was sponsored by the Herdade dos Grous and the Châine were able to raise €1,400 towards the creation of the new school.
