Celebration of the midsummer moon

On Supermoon Sunday (June 23) more than 70 members and guests of the Algarve Wine Society celebrated their annual mid-summer party at a charming private residence in Vale do Lobo. The Full Moon presented a perfect setting for this summer’s event.

The meal was preceded by an informal wine tasting and welcome cocktails of wines provided by Algarwine Lda. The cocktails of white and rosé port mixed with soda water and tonic proved to be very popular, as indeed did each of the other five wines provided.

The Fat Pig Hog Roast Company provided an excellent buffet of spit roast lamb and chicken accompanied by a selection of salads and vegetables. Dining in the clear, open atmosphere on a balmy Algarve evening proved to be a delightful way for the Algarve Wine Society to conclude this season’s schedule of events.

The evening concluded with spirited dancing under the stars to live music provided by the Neverland band.

The Algarve Wine Society’s summer party has become the traditional closure of the organisation’s spring programme and a welcome prelude to an extended summer break. The Society’s activities will resume in September when a new season of wine tastings and visits to both domestic and foreign vineyards will commence.
