Mar Shopping partners with Animal Rescue Algarve for World Animal Day
Tuesday, October 4 marks World Animal Day and Mar Shopping Algarve in Loulé has invited long-time animal welfare partner Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA) to celebrate this important occasion.
“Animal Rescue Algarve and Mar Shopping share the same passion for excellence when it comes to caring for some of the most fragile beings in the Algarve, and the planet,” said ARA in a press statement.
Reaffirming the importance of education in animal welfare, on October 4, at 11am, visitors to the shopping centre will see the relaunch of the book For the Love of…, authored by students of the Almancil Schools Group, and curated by ARA and its volunteers.
Representatives from Almancil and Loulé schools will be in attendance to celebrate the work carried out by the children and volunteers – “important partners in changing the way animals are treated for generations to come,” said ARA.
Mar Shopping’s animal-friendly policy, alongside a principle towards only working with recognised charities, and coupled with the success of all previous events in raising awareness and adoption numbers, means that on World Animal Day the shopping centre will go above and beyond to help ARA and its rescued residents.
The extended event will run between October 1 and 5 and, beyond the usual meet and greet with ARA’s team and animals, the shopping centre will be decorated with around 50 real-size holographic pictures of animals, with QR codes that allow every shopper to learn more about the particular story of each animal and how to adopt or help it.
Both ARA and Mar Shopping know that events of this nature are extremely important not only to promote adoptions, but to further the education and awareness of the general population in the hopes of driving real positive change on how animals are treated in Portugal.
