Celebrating our 1,000th edition

Cake and champagne was the order of the day at our offices in Lagoa on July 16 when the whole team got together to celebrate the Algarve Resident’s 1,000th edition.

Launched in 1989, MMS Publishing’s Algarve Resident has continued to be the most widely read English language newspaper in the Algarve.

Published weekly, the team works together each week to deliver up-to-date news and information about the Algarve to our loyal readership.

The celebratory cake was cut by the Algarve Resident’s editor Inês Lopes and Suzy Turner, the newly appointed editor of sister company Fleet Street Lda’s magazines.

The cake was decorated with images of the first front cover of the Algarve Resident and one of the most recent ones and was enjoyed by all! Champagne was sipped as everyone shared memories of their time at the Algarve Resident.

Publishing Director Mike Almond said: “To reach this milestone is testament to the dedication and professionalism of the whole team – past and present.

“On behalf of the directors I would like to thank our staff, our advertisers and our readers for their incredible loyalty and support.”

He added: “The Algarve Resident has evolved over the past 999 editions into the respected publication it is today. We all look forward to the next 1,000 editions!”
