18th Anniversary Charity Dinner
The Resident staff has been raising money all year for the Lar de Crianças Bom Samaritano and is hoping to raise even more at their 18th anniversary dinner at the Hotel Garbe on November 9.
As the residents’ weekly newspaper of choice, our role is to keep you informed of all the latest news in Portugal, and especially the Algarve. However, The Resident team believes we can do more than that.
Over the years, The Resident has been involved in many charitable causes and this year is no different. As well as being a party to celebrate our 18 years of weekly publishing, it is our intention to raise money, through an auction, for the Lar de Crianças Bom Samaritano.
Although the charity has already created an impressive range of facilities for the children in its care, there is still
far more needed to make their lives more comfortable and enjoyable. So please help us to raise enough money to fulfil the children’s “Wish List”.
We will be celebrating in style with a buffet dinner, including a selection of Indian dishes, wine and water and a birthday cake, of course! As entertainment for the evening…
The great classic guitar player Eudoro Grade will provide the perfect background music for you to enjoy the delicious food on offer;
Go back in time with Ray and Sandie of the Saraband Duo and to end the evening in style, Beto Kalulú will no doubt have you dancing to his African beats.
Join us and tell your friends, relatives and neighbours to come along as well!

Eudoro Grade to perform at 18th anniversary
EUDORO GRADE is due to perform at The Resident’s 18th birthday celebrations on November 9.
Born in Lisbon in 1956, Eudoro Grade started his musical studies early on and completed an academic degree at the Superior School of Music in Lisbon, after attending Academia de
Música de Lisboa, where he was one of the pupils of famous guitar professor Piñero Nagy.
Eudoro Grade is now a professor at the Algarve Conservatoires of Music at Faro and Portimão, where he teaches classic guitar.
One of his favourite teaching projects is the Young Guitars Orchestra of the Algarve. This is being developed with the support of the Algarve Guitar Association, whose president is Eudoro Grade, and aims to involve young people who live in the more isolated villages of the region.
Eudoro Grade performs as a solo artist as well as taking part in chamber music and orchestral presentations. His guitar playing has already taken him to Spain, France, Austria and Switzerland. He has also released two cds, Guitarra and Sons da Memória.
After his date with The Resident’s celebration on November 9, he will be playing at Galeria Espaço Mais, in Aljezur, on November 24.
For 2008, Eudoro Grade is already scheduled to perform on January 26 with the Concordis quartet in the São Brás de Alportel Museum.
