FOR THE second time in as many years, Swede Cecilia Ekelund (pictured) was winner of the Algarve Ladies Portuguese Open golf tournament at the Gramacho course in Carvoeiro, Lagoa, ending the tournament at six below par. In second place was France’s Ludovine Kreutz at three below par, with third place being shared by Gladys Nocera (France) and Cherie Byrnes (Australia), both finishing at two below par. The winners shared a total of 300,000 euros prize money, making the tournament the seventh most important in Europe.
