Officials from the UN and the US are putting increasing pressure on Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas to call a ceasefire in Gaza.
The latest plea comes after more than 130 people were killed on Tuesday, one of the most deadly days since the offensive began.
At the time the Algarve Resident went to press, Israel’s security cabinet was meeting to consider ceasefire proposals but were also due to discuss expanding their general operations in Gaza.
