CDS has new leader vowing to shake things up

The centre-right CDS, which fell dramatically from grace after its pact with the PSD ended in election defeat back in 2015, has just elected a new leader.

Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos promises a “sexy” party, with “clear identity” hoping to transform into “the New Right” serving Portuguese people.

But, he told reporters, he refuses to become the crutch of any other party. Rodrigues dos Santos replaces Assunção Cristas.
