Portuguese media reports suggest that President Cavaco Silva is under increasing pressure to “decorate” former Prime Minister José Sócrates with the Grand Cross of the Military Order of Christ. According to Expresso, the decoration would pay homage to the man many see as an “intransigent defender of the national interest”.
