FORMER Prime Minister, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, was among some of Lisbon’s top economics professors at the annual Universidade Católica economics diploma degree awards. Before the ceremony, Luís Palha da Silva, CEO of supermarket giant Jerónimo Martins (Pingo Doce and Feira Nova), spoke to graduates about his vision on what Portugal needs from its future managers and economists. Medals were handed out to the most outstanding students of the faculty of Economic Science and Business Studies in the previous academic year. Among those present to congratulate the winners was last year’s ‘Primus inter Pares’ economics award winner, Inês Bernardo, who plans to spend time working in England.
