Castro Marim unveils freedom flag painted by local schoolchildren

A 40-metre long flag, put together using local schoolchildren’s drawings depicting ‘freedom’, will be presented at the 1º de Maio square in Castro Marim on Wednesday, April 24 at 10am.

The initiative started with a children’s book by Fátima Valentim entitled ‘À Procura da Liberdade’, which aims to teach children about the importance of the “freedom that was gained in Portugal after the Carnation Revolution”.

With the help of the book’s illustrator, each child was encouraged to draw their own vision of freedom.
