Screenings will take place in all four parishes
Castro Marim Council is organising a series of free screenings for cancer and other skin diseases between October 11 and 13, covering all four parishes of the municipality and open to the entire local population.
The initiative is periodically carried out with the voluntary collaboration of dermatologist Dr Manuela Aguiar.
“Through these periodic screening actions, it has been possible not only to prevent but also to detect early-stage tumour lesions. Treatment for potential pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) is also provided using liquid nitrogen, acquired for this purpose,” the council says.
The first screenings will take place on Wednesday, October 11 at the Espaço Cidadão in Odeleite (near the local church) between 9.30am and 12.30pm and at the Unidade de Cuidados Continuados in Azinhal between 2pm and 5.30pm.
Altura will host the second day of screenings at the Cegonha Branca nursing home on Thursday, October 12 between 9.30am and 12.30pm and 2pm and 4.30pm.
Last but not least, Castro Marim’s municipal library will host the final day of screenings from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.
Registration is limited and mandatory through the following phone numbers: +351 281 510 778 or +351 281 510 754.
