A lunch to celebrate the completion of a new road linking Altura and Furnazinhas was held by Castro Marim council on Thursday (June 11) under the newly-constructed bridge.
Describing it as “the largest road construction ever” in the municipality, the council says the 34km stretch will “greatly help shorten distances between local communities”.
The last phase of the project saw workers building the Eira Verde/Monte Novo link as well as a 135-metre bridge at Fortes – under which the celebration lunch was held.
The road cost €2.8 million – 65% of which was paid for by EC funds.
