AS PART of the Programa de Marchas Passeio Algarve 2005/2006, a programme of public walks along the Algarve region, developed by the Instituto Nacional do Desporto (national institute of sport), Castro Marim Câmara is planning a walk for local residents, taking place on April 2 at 10am.
The route will take participants through the Sapal Nature Reserve of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, offering the chance to observe various interesting species, such as the flamingo and stork, and promoting contact with nature. One of the key objectives of this initiative is to motivate the local population to take part in physical activities that will benefit their health.
The walk is being organised by the council’s department for culture and sport and is being co-ordinated by the regional office of the national institute for sport. Support will be provided on the day by Castro Marim GNR and the Bombeiros Municipais of Vila Real de Santo António.
The set-off point will be the pavilion car park in Castro Marim. For more information, contact Castro Marim Câmara on 281 510 748.
