SILVES CASTLE provided a fitting backdrop for the presentation of a 1,500 euro cheque to Dra. Liliana Rodrigues, president of Silves-based charity Castelo de Sonhos, recently. The money was raised by the St. Patrick’s Society of the Algarve from their St. Patrick’s Celebration dinner dance and monthly walks.
Chairman Jim Brownlow, Treasurer Iggy Gannon, Secretary Jenny Gannon and Public Relations Officer Ron Delaney were on hand to present the cheque, which brings the total raised by the society for Castelo de Sonhos in the past year to 2,700 euros.
Castelo de Sonhos supports poor families and children throughout the region and is in constant need of funds to finance its activities. They also welcome donations of food, children’s clothing and voluntary help. If you can assist in any way, please contact Dra. Liliana on 282 441 089.
The St. Patrick’s Society’s monthly walks are held on the first Saturday of each month (see The Resident’s What’s On section pages for details or contact John O’Neill on 969 459 029).
