Dear Editor,
It is a scandal that Castelejo beach has no lifeguard. Surely this is the responsibility of the Câmara in Vila do Bispo. Hundreds of tourists are in the area, visiting this beach (which is known to be highly dangerous). All the money they spend in the area benefits the Câmara and local community. Is it really too much for them to pay for a daily lifeguard? (even one would help).
Portuguese authorities have failed totally in their duty to protect the visitors. I feel so sorry for that young lad who drowned.
Disgraceful!
