A CASH machine containing thousands of euros was stolen from a supermarket in northern Portugal earlier this week.
Lidl supermarket in the village of Darque, Viana do Castelo, near Braga, had its cash machine taken in the early hours of Monday.
According to a police source, the robbery occurred at around 4.30am when a group of three or four individuals broke down the main entrance door to the store.
They made a beeline for the cash machine, which they took away on a stolen heavy goods lorry.
The authorities are unsure of the exact amount contained in the machine, but estimate that it was a minimum of 15,000 euros and could even be as much as 30,000 euros.
Braga PJ is investigating the case.
