Cascais shows the clever way to deal with real estate disasters

Instead of leaving unfinished monstrosities in areas of prime real estate, Cascais council is showing the pro-active way ahead.

The hideous 10-year old “skeleton” of the abandoned Hotel Nau next to the railway station is being demolished this week and residents are being asked what they would like to see in its place.

Suggestions so far range from a hotel to a health unit. One thing is certain, the busy town wants a 300-space car park.
