Cascais hospital under investigation over woman who died during abortion

Public ministry investigators are probing the death of a 44-year-old woman at Cascais Hospital during what is termed as “the abortion process”.

The woman had been given a pill to abort her pregnancy after it was confirmed the child would be born with Edwards Syndrome (Trisomy 18).

She died suffering vomiting, stomach pains and cold sweats, say reports.

The family subsequently lodged a formal complaint against the hospital.
