CASA river cruise takes in stunning scenery

To mark the end of the spring season of club events this year, in July CASA Social Club took a cruise up the Arade River from Portimão to Silves including a light lunch in Silves.

The group met at the café of the Clube Naval in Portimão before being ‘assigned’ to their boats; this having been very popular with members last time, CASA had initially booked two boats but had to add a third one due to the high demand.

The one-hour gentle cruise up to Silves was “most enjoyable and interspersed with odd commentaries by our individual skippers”. From the Silves landing place near the old Roman Bridge (Ponte Romana), the group made the short walk to the Plaza Café which served a cold buffet lunch. “Our thanks to all the staff who managed to maintain a constant flow of food (and drink, naturally) to 48 hungry people for one-and-a-half hours,” said Norman Crocker from CASA.

In September, CASA will kick-off the autumn season with two “very different events”: Mini-golf and ‘high tea’ in Alvor on the 13th and an ‘end of summer’ dinner on the 28th.
