December 16 is the day Carvoeiro’s beachside square will start hosting the village’s popular Christmas fair.
Promising a wealth of entertainment and around 30 stalls selling regional products, the fair can be visited until Sunday. Admission is free.
Festivities start at 10am with a Santa Claus parade involving hundreds of children, followed by a cookery demonstration for children led by ‘Chef Luigi’ at 11am and a performance by well-known singer Beto Kalulu later in the afternoon at 4pm.
On Saturday, a dance show by Studio Mix Dance is scheduled for 11am, followed by a performance by the Carvodrama theatre group at 3pm and a musical performance by Us2 at 4pm.
On the agenda for Sunday is a gym class at 11am, a dance show by Carvokids at 2.30pm, a show by Salsinha the Clown at 3pm, and finally a concert by Ricardo Sousa at 4pm.
Alongside the stalls and the entertainments programme, the fair will also boast a “giant snow globe”.
The event is jointly organised by the parish union of Lagoa and Carvoeiro and Lagoa council.
