Carvoeiro Cat Charity raises €970 at dinner event

The Carvoeiro Cat Charity Associação (CCCA) raised over €970 at a charity dinner held last Saturday at Ti Teresa restaurant near Alcantarilha.

Organisers thanked all who attended for their generosity as well as Nuno and the staff at the restaurant for “providing wonderful food and service, as always”.

They continued: “Whilst this is an amazing amount to raise in one evening, and for which we are incredibly grateful, some of you may be unaware that this covers our daily running costs for a mere 10 days. These costs cover food, cat litter, cleaning materials, medication for the animals who need and vet costs. Our average monthly costs are currently running at €3,500. We are always looking for other ideas and at other channels by which to raise funds.”

As a supporter, you can become a member of the association for an annual fee of €18. As a member, you will receive a quarterly news bulletin which details the charity’s activities in each quarter of the year. You can also become an animal sponsor.

The CCCA attends the monthly Fatacil Flea Market in Lagoa on the fourth Sunday of every month. So, if you have any items which you think the charity could sell, these would help raise extra funds (Fatacil Flea Market closes during July and August for their own events, restarting again in September).

The charity is also looking for volunteers to help at the shelter. “We are a friendly group and always make time for a coffee and a chat, so if you can commit to a few hours a week, we would love to welcome you. In addition to general cleaning and laundry, cat cuddling and general socialising with humans is so important for preparing our residents for rehoming,” said CCCA.
