Carvoeiro accident victim still in hosptial

A WOMAN who recently suffered serious facial injuries in an accident in Carvoeiro, that took place when a motorcylist failed to stop at a zebra crossing (see front page of last week’s issue of The Resident), is still in a critical condition at the Hospital São José in Lisbon.

A 42-year-old woman died at the scene and a German tourist, hit on the pavement, received treatment at the Barlavento Hospital in Portimão.

The case has now been passed to Albufeira Brigada de Trânsito (BT), traffic police by Carvoeiro GNR, whose spokesperson told The Resident that a full inquiry into the incident is in progress. When asked if the motorcyclist is being prosecuted, the policeman refused to comment, “as the investigation is still continuing”.
