Carnival fever and romance

With Carnival and Valentine’s falling within two days of each other this month, there’s a double reason to celebrate at Vila Vita Parc, near Porches.

Ocean, the luxury resort’s Michelin two-star restaurant, is offering its ‘An Ocean For Two programme’ on St Valentine’s Day (February 14), which includes a four-course tasting gourmet dinner, one night in a deluxe double room with breakfast, and free use of the Health Club and Spa facilities.

Prices start from €550 per couple per night, upgrades to a variety of suites are available, and extra nights can be added for those wishing to extend their stay. Another optional extra is to book a chauffeur-driven VIP limousine transfer in the resort’s V8 Bentley.

The Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches meanwhile is another of the resort’s outlets offering special promotions for Carnival. The traditional German beer garden re-opens for the season today (February 8) with a new a la carte menu. Tomorrow (Saturday, February 9) it is holding a Family Carnival Party with entertainment for children, a Carnival Platter priced at €17.50 for two adults, and a kids’ menu at €9,50. On Ash Wednesday (February 13) it is running a three-course fish menu for €23 per person.

Other Carnival events for the big day itself – Shrove Tuesday on February 12 – include breakfast pancakes and kids’ activities at the resort’s Bela Vita restaurant, and a Brazil Carnival Rodízio Buffet Lunch with Brazilian music and dancers, also at Bela Vita. Priced at €49 per person with discounts for children, the lunch includes a range of Brazilian specialities, from caipirinhas to picanha.

To round off the Carnival promotions, both Bela Vita and Arte Náutica, Vila Vita’s beachside restaurant in Armacão de Pêra, will also be offering special fish menus on Ash Wednesday.
