The vehicle acquired by the former president of Lisbon Câmara, Pedro Santana Lopes, was the source of great controversy and opposition, due to the amount of money spent on its purchase (99,800 euros).
Lopes’ successor, Carmona Rodrigues, is now attempting to sell the car as he refuses to use it. The car, an Audi A8 4.2 TDI Quattro, has been kept in a council owned garage since the exit of Pedro Santana Lopes from Lisbon Câmara. However, despite the current President’s desire to be rid of the vehicle, so far only two interested parties have come forward with bids, both for relatively low amounts of around 40,000 euros.
