Career cabbies call for government to seize Uber vehicles

Portugal’s federation of taxi drivers has called on the government to “apprehend cars in the service of new mobility platforms” – namely Uber and Cabify.

Despite public support for the businesses that use Smartphone Apps, career cabbies stress their illegality.

Until the correct legislation is brought in, cabbies want competitors’ vehicles impounded.

In the absence of a reaction by the Ministry of Internal Administration, the cabbies warn more protests could follow.
