FOR YEARS, there has been much speculation about the future of the beautiful ruins that lie behind the apartments and park of Quinta da Alagoa. Members of the international community living in Carcavelos will now be pleased to know that, finally, decisions have been made to revamp the areas of Quinta da Alagoa and Quinta da Barão. At a recent presentation, held at the recreational and musical auditorium in Carcavelos, Cascais Câmara President, António Capucho, spoke of an impressive project to re-build the ruins into a 310-seat grand municipal auditorium, with its own underground parking for 160 cars. The neighbouring area of Quinta da Barão and its Adega (wine store) will be transformed into a wine museum and plans also include a new headquarters for the scouts. Bob Hughes
