Sales of passenger cars throughout Portugal in June have dropped 37% in comparison to the same month in 2011. The Automobile Association of Portugal registered sales of a total of 10,805 cars during the month, representing the worst June since 1988. Passenger cars were not the only category of vehicle to suffer a sharp drop in sale numbers when compared to June last year. The association registered 121 heavy goods vehicles sold, resulting in a 42.9% drop, and 1,313 light commercial vehicles sold, representing a 53.4% fall.
