THE SALE of cars and motorbikes increased by 4.3 per cent in 2007 with a total of 276,684 vehicles bought and sold across Portugal, according to a report released by Portugal’s automobile association (ACAP).
A spokesman for ACAP said that the association had initially predicted an increase of 1.5 per cent in the sale of cars and motorbikes, and that the rise could be because of government incentives for people to scrap their old cars and buy brand new ones. Sales in December increased by 7.4 per cent with 21,282 vehicles sold, compared to the same month in 2006.
