LISBON IS set to host one of the biggest public art events in the world. CowParade is a massive spectacle of life-size multicoloured fibreglass cows over which local artists will paint and project their artistic design.
CowParade Lisbon 2006 will be an open air show that will make Portugal a global window to the rest of the world for art and culture over a five-month period. From June to October, cows will be exhibited around the capital’s streets and public parks. At the end of October, the works will be sold in a public auction to benefit charitable causes.
Advertising agency McCann Erikson will support the event, taking care of the promotion and creativity. “The CowParade will be a massive challenge. We have the expertise to make this multinational initiative relevant and exciting for the Portuguese,” says Pedro Pina, president of the McCann Worldgroup.
The hugely popular international event has already passed through 25 cities worldwide, including Zurich, Prague, Barcelona, Brussels, Chicago, Stockholm, Tokyo, Sydney and New York, where a staggering 45 million people saw the exhibition.
