Canzonetta entertains

news: Canzonetta entertains

WITH ONLY one other performance behind them, the senior school choir, ‘Canzonetta’, from St Dominic’s International School in Lisbon performed a choral evening at the school recently to raise funds for the Associação Portuguesa para as Perturbações do Desenvolvimento e Autismo (APPDA), the Portuguese association for people with learning difficulties and autism.

Canzonetta, the name chosen by the girls for the choir, was directed by Stephanie Duarte and on piano was Mariana Almeida.

The varied programme got parents and guests in the mood. The first song was entitled Take Time in Life, which was a Liberian Folk Song and certainly a good opener as many were astounded at the quality of the singing. Then followed The Swans, another enjoyable number. A solo by Katherine Branco with Ave Maria received just applause. Rise up with a Shouting and Greensleeves further entertained the foot tapping audience, followed by Ana Castro who took to the front to sing His Eye is on the Sparrow. The full choir enthralled all with Oh Happy Day.
