A canoeist had to be rescued by the Maritime Police when his kayak overturned in the river Arade in Portimão on March 18.
A spokesman for the police told the Algarve Resident: “A passerby saw the incident happen and called 112. That call was forwarded to us and we promptly moved a boat to the place and managed to rescue the person and also his kayak and paddle.”
The victim was a 55-year old German man, who was not injured.
