Cancer support

The Ministry of Health has announced that it will be investing €40 million this year in the treatment of cancer patients at the oncology hospitals (IPO) of Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.

According to the ministry, half the money will come from the government while the remainder will be covered by community funds.

The announcement was made on World Cancer Day (February 4), at a time when statistics show that on average 70 people die in Portugal every day from malignant tumours.
