Canadian pianist Pierre-André Doucet will give two concerts on March 24 and 26 at Os Agostos country estate near Santa Bárbara de Nexe. He will be playing music by Schubert, Debussy, Boulanger, Lizst and Glinka.
Praised for his colourful playing and fascinating writing, pianist and author Pierre-André Doucet is one of Canada’s most captivating young artists.
Winner of the prestigious Knigge Piano Competition, his evocative and compelling readings of contemporary scores also make him a refreshing and vital musician, who has been rewarded at the Ibiza International Piano Competition, among others.
Aware of the modern artist’s evolving role, Pierre-André Doucet has spent more than 10 years behind non-profit organisations dedicated to culture, language rights, health, youth leadership and arts education. He is a strong advocate of contextualizing performances through pre-concert talks and “commentated recitals”, and strives to bring classical music to rural and underserved communities.
As such, alongside pianist Julien LeBlanc, he has been Co-Artistic Director of Barachois Summer Music, in his native New Brunswick.
Amigos de Música concerts at Os Agostos begin at 7pm sharp. Doors open at 6pm and wine, fruit juices and canapés will be served. There will also be a short interval with refreshments served. Entry donation is €25 per person for guests and non-members.
