Canadian bowlers visit sunny Algarve

Earlier this month, Valverde Lawn Bowls Club, Almancil, welcomed a group of bowlers from Canada. The group play at Nutana Lawn Bowls Club in Buena Vista Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They were pleased to leave temperatures of minus 35 degrees at home for the sunny Algarve.

The trip was arranged by travel agent Anne Matheson who loves her bowling. Rather than play as a team, the bowlers preferred to play in three of Valverde’s roll ups, enabling them to meet as many members as possible. They were all excellent players.

One member of the group was unable to bowl due to frost bite in his fingertips acquired whilst clearing snow, but he was able to enjoy the lovely sunshine and watch the games.

Whilst in the Algarve, the group stayed at Olhos de Água and visited Albufeira and Loulé Saturday market. They also enjoyed a day trip to Silves and Monchique.

After their stay, some of the group spent a few days in Lisbon before flying home to the snow. They enjoyed their stay so much they intend to return next year.
